LAS PALMAS NIGHTLIFE IN S. AMBROGIO SQUARE   The florentine   Summer will have in Piazza Ghiberti its most important centre of attraction:: Las Palmas, the Sant’Ambrogio Festival, will come back this year with free exhibitions, the bar and the restaurant where the traditional sea fried food  and   baccalà will be served. A big screen will allow to follow the European football Championship, but there will be numerous events  where prestigious artists and schools will exhibit , starting from music – jazz, blues, rock, ethnic  music  will be the most relevant ones. Vincenzo Danti: Michelangelo's pupil or competitor?   Vincenzo Danti (Perugia, 1530 - 1576), worked for many years under Michelangelo’s shadow. He studied and learned his stylistic forms and took him as a model. Now, at the Bargello National Museum, we have the opportunity to admire, apart the sculptures usually held in Florence, works on loan from the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art (Kansas City), the National Gallery of Art(Washington D.C.), the Victoria & Albert Museum (London) and The Civiche Raccolte d’Arte and Castello Sforzesco (Milan). Last but not least, after having been restored, the Bargello hosts also his better known masterpiece: the Beheading of St. John the Baptist. OPERA FESTIVAL 2008 Magic nights at the Boboli Garden: from June 11 till Auguts 08th, in the unique frame of one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, several very famous operas will be played- among them “Cats”, “La Boheme”, “Il Barbiere di Siviglia”, “La Traviata”, “Bolero”. The program will also see the presence of the Momix, the original company of dancers of Moses Pendleton.
